Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I decided to do something positive about cancer, I think its just me getting older, but so many people I love or know have been touched by this disease - but particularly for my sister Sara who is currently undergoing agressive chemo for stage 4 lung cancer (hence the hair!)

My Mum - had breast cancer twice, died from pancreatic cancer 2006

My Sister Manda  - fought glioblastoma so hard, died after a epic battle in Feb 2009

My Sister Sara - currently undergoing chemo for stage 4 lung cancer

My wife Susy - fought and beat Non Hodgkins Lymphoma

My two best friends Jon "Rat" Harrop and Barbara Woollard - both died of lung cancer in the past year

My Step Mothers son - Died of Stomach cancer while tragically young

My friend Denise's Mum Valerie - bravely fought metastatic breast cancer, died 2 years ago

My friend Spencers Dad - undegoing treatment for lung cancer

My Friend Sharon's Dad - died just recently

I guess its statistics - 1 in 3 of us will get this disease, 1 in 5 will die directly becuase of it

So what to do:

Stage 1 - Shave head in synch with my brave sister loosing her hair

Stage 2 - Give up the fags - if I dont get the hint now I never will (and as for you Dad?)

Stage 3 - Come up with a charity that has long term benefits - cancer vaccines offer a ray of hope for many reasons - not least they have low or non-existent toxicity and are showing promise in some of the most hard to beat cancers.
