The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

I'm off to Mexico to climb Volcano Iztaccíhuatl in early November with a group of 15 blind and 15 sighted people and am after sponsorship from you!

Funds will be going to Ojos Que Sienten / Sight of Emotion, a charity working to empower blind and partially sighted people in Mexico and the UK.  Gina Badenoch, founder of Ojos Que Sienten is organising the climb.  All kudos to her for the one and a half years this has been in the making.  And all funds to her organisation so it can continue its great work - so dig deep guys!

Check out www.ojosquesienten.org for more information on her work.

All funds raised will be going to Ojos Que Sienten to continue their work.  I'll be meeting all costs of me getting there and making the climb.

The climb is being led by world-renowned blind climber Erik Weihenmayer and famous sighted Mexican climber Hector Ponce de Leon.  More information on Eric can be found at www.touchthetop.com.

So please dig deep and donate now.  Funds raised in the UK are being channeled through the Centre for Innovation in Voluntary Action - www.civa.org.uk

Thanks very much
