Story
Colleagues and friends from the DHL JLR LLP will try and conquer Ben Nevis in their 3 peaks in 3 years challenge! This year we will be fundraising for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The team consists of:-
Andrew Fisher, Stewart & Anna Parker, Alison Crooks, Kristyna Kvasnickova, Marc Charlton, Chris Wall, Keith Nicoll, Rachel Bradley and Adam Josey.
Just to let you know what we will be up against…
Ben Nevis, although not as high as Alpine mountains, is positioned much further to the north and the climate can be similar to Arctic regions. While there may be a welcoming sea breeze on the shores of nearby Loch Linnhe, 20-30 knots of chilling wind may be howling on the summit of the Ben. Many walkers / climbers find weather conditions changing within minutes - usually for the worse - as they work their way up the mountain… In Gaelic the mountain's name, Beinn Nibheis, has been linked with Irish and Gaelic words meaning poisonous or terrible, implying a fairly ominous character - enjoy! “MobileAdventure.co.uk”
We chose the charity based on some of the team’s experiences at Birmingham Children’s hospital:
Nick Thomas:
"This is a charity close to my heart after the wonderful care and surgery they have given to my son Connor and numerous other poorly children across the UK.
The service they provide enables some children the opportunity to lead a normal healthy life, and there are very few countries across the world that can provide the life changing service that they provide.
The money we raise for them is paramount for them to continue to priceless work they do and I for one will be in debt to them for life"
Stewart Parker:
"Last year our daughter needed major cranial facial surgery. One of the four teams in the country capable of performing this type of operation is based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. During our stay we witnessed first-hand the exceptional care the staff provide for their patients and the warmth and support shown to all family members.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a heart breaking, heart-warming, and inspirational place to be and we will be forever grateful for the care they took of our little girl.
Every penny donated will contribute to the remarkable work of this institute."
In our bid to complete the 3 peaks (Snowdon in 2011 & Scafell Pike 2012) we have already raised over £5800 for charity so please support us again in our 1344m challenge and dig deep and give generously.
Thank You & Wish Us Luck!!
