Thanks for visiting my page! In 2012, I will be running the Virgin London Marathon for the Lymphoma Association. Please donate generously!!!!

In 2008, my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. It is the 6th most common cancer in the UK. It came as a massive shock to the whole family - I guess you never think it will happen to you. Mum started an agressive chemotherapy treatment and we all remained hopeful and positive that the treatment would be successful.

Doctors and nurses took care of the medicine and whilst my mum responded very well to the treatment (didn't even lose all her hair), they could do very little for the emotional trauma caused by cancer.

The Lymphoma Association provided invaluable support to my mum in particular, but also to the rest of the family. The charity provides a freephone helpline with friendly support staff to offer information and emotional support. The various conferences and free literature informed the whole family of what exactly non-hodgkin lymphoma is and kept us up-to-date with the latest medical breakthroughs. Another invaluable free-service provided by the Lymphoma Association was the Buddy scheme which got my mum in touch with a woman who was now in remission, and could therefore provide positive first hand advice on how to cope with this disease.

These free services provided the whole family with invaluable support and meant we remained positive and supportive of my mum's progress. Mum has been in remission since 2009!

Every hour of every day one person in the UK is diagnosed with lymphatic cancer. Since the Lymphoma Association relies totally on voluntary donations to keep its free services running, I will be running the gruelling 26.2 miles of the London Marathon for this massively worthwhile charity.

Thank you for any donations you can make to ensure that the free services which were so important to my family can help others diagnosed with this disease. Please give generously (and remember to gift aid, if possible)!!
