Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the New Forrest Half Marathon on 27/09/2009 in memory of mum Jane Powell who passed away in May 1993. As many of you will know mum suffered for many years with anorexia and spent a lot of time in hospital and visiting specialists throughout her illness.

Anorexia is a terrible illness which not only affects the lives of those who suffer from it but also has a huge effect on their families. It is important that there are charities out there who can provide support to suffers of anorexia and also to their families.

I have chosen to support beat who are a very worthwhile charity providing the support people need when suffering from anorexia as an individual or as a family member.
