Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Sunday 15 July I will be taking part in ‘Tough Mudder Scotland 2012’ at Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfrieshire. Over the 11mile/28 obstacle course I will be drenched, covered in mud, nettle stung, dropped into a lake, frozen, electrocuted + whole host of other uncomfortable experiences. It’s not everyone’s idea of fun but when I came across it online earlier this year I knew I had to give it a try.

Tough Mudder is an adventure race/assault course designed by ex members of the British military. The course designers take into account the natural landscape then proceed to make it as difficult to cross as possible. Tough Mudder is not a race (although many like to get through as quick as they can). The course is impossible to do on your own, with some of the obstacles requiring teamwork to prevail. Team effort comes before individual times.During the last 10 years I’ve kept fit by learning Taekwondo, Boxing & Kickboxing but this event is a long way outside my comfort zone.

While taking part in Tough Mudder I hope to raise £500 for The Charles Sykes Epilepsy Research Trust. I’ve known Malcolm & Jane Sykes for many years have witnessed first hand how much time and effort they have put into raising money for research and raising awareness of the issues surrounding Epilepsy, both before & after the loss of their son Charles to the condition. It gives me great pleasure to be able to help them and CSERT.
