Walking through the Screwfix HQ in April, I notice a poster advertising for places in the last leg of the Tour De Screwfix - over 170 miles, limited places, first come first served.

How could I miss out on this?? So minutes later an email fired off and by place is secured.

Happy I sit back - then reality dawns on me - I do not own a bike, I have never done road riding, I haven't cycled in 10 years!!!!!

But I have made a commitment now and despite being called a range of madness and stupidity, I will complete this - come rain, shine and serious saddle sore.

Come April - I now have a bike and have made the first tentative steps in hitting the road and putting some miles on the bike (and my butt!!)

This will be a big challenge for me, and those with me on this cycle ride
