Story

Hello I'm Ben Tait. I am 15. I am cycling from London to Copenhagen in December to raise money for Christian Aid and to join thousands of other people from around the world to campaign for climate justice as the UN holds its vital summit on global warming.

It's poor countries that are feeling the effects of climate change hardest. Christian Aid works with partner organisations in around 50 developing countries alongside some of the world's poorest people, regardless of race or religion. These people have done little to cause the climate crisis that is affecting their crops and water supplies or causing their homes to be flooded. Christian Aid partners are calling on the governments of the richer countries to repay their carbon debt and help poor people to adapt to changes that cannot now be prevented.

If you would like to help please sponsor me! There's still time to send a postcard to the Prime Minister to add your voice to those calling for a fair deal at the Copenhagen conference, and take the pledge online at www.christianaid.org.uk   Christian Aid want all the world leaders to pledge to take urgent action to limit global average temperature rises to 2 degrees. Scientists warn that more than this would be dangerous, but even this amount of warming is serious for many of the world's poorest people as well as vulnerable ecosystems such as coral reefs. It is really vital that a fair and effective climate deal is reached at the Copenhagen summit.
