Paris-Roubaix and La Marmotte · 16 May 2012

Supporting carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We provide a confidential carers’ support line, a team of carer support officers, workshops, training and events.

Story

Harry Parker and Ben Watson are attempting to ride the Paris-Roubaix on June 9. For those uninitiated in cycling the Paris-Roubaix is also know as the "Hell of the North" and this version is a 210km (147 miles ... ) day ride ending in the historic Roubaix velodrome. The ride is famous for its long cobble stretches, breaking bikes and riders, and Harry and Ben have already started adding padding to their saddles. Assuming he can still look at his bike after that experience, Ben will then also attempt La Marmotte (a 110 mile day ride over 4 famous cols in the Alps, with approximately 5200 m of climbing) in early July.

Harry and Ben will be completing the rides in aid of TLT's charity of the year, Bristol Young Carers (and all monies raised will go directly to charity). Young Carers are part of The Princess Royal Trust Carers Centre which supports unpaid family carers of all ages across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. The Young Carers team work with children and young people who are aged 18 and under, who help to look after someone in their family who has a long term illness or disability. Being a carer can be hard for anyone, espcially for children. Young Carers work with these children to help enjoy their childhoods by offering 1 to 1 support, group activites, msn chats and much more.

We'd be grateful for your support.
