Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Abyssinia Support Foundation is committed to bringing long-term change to the lives of orphaned, abandoned and neglected children in Ethiopia. Our vision is to reach as many children as possible, to give them security, love, hope and a bright future.   Abyssinia Support Foundation (Abyhope) started by providing the very basics of requirements, which is shelter, food, clothing, access to medical care and education. However the vision of Abyhope was not limited to meeting the visible needs of these children, we also aspired to combat the psychological damage they incurred due to abandonment, lack of support and security. By providing love, security and around the clock care we are able to build their self-esteem, confidence, sense of self-worth and most of all salvage the treasured innocence of childhood.   Following on Abyhope's initial success, we started sport projects and educational tutorial services so we can help our children realise their potential. Our efforts were hugely rewarded in the form of academic achievement, we are proud to say our children achieve in the top 5 percentile of their class groups.   We have also launched an outreach program which we believe will go a long way to curb the rising neglect and abandonment of children by combating it at the source through providing support to families who are on the very edge of despair. We provide support in terms of clothing, meeting the cost incurred by education, and providing access to medical care. By taking some of the burden from the struggling parents the children receive better care, are able to go to school instead of begging or working, and are less likely to be abandoned.   Currently 15 children are cared for by Abyhope. We also support 3 families through our new outreach programme.   Abyhope has 8 members and its projects are largely funded by these members. The success of the organisation since its inception in 2005 has been profound and it is our vision to reach out to the many more children who are living in adverse poverty. You donation will ensure  they have the long-term care and support they urgently need.
