Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi to everyone,
My name is Ben, i'm 8 years old, and i'm raising money for the Childrens Oncology Ward at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.
I was diagnosed with Leukaemia (Cancer of the blood) in May 2008, which came as a bit of a shock, especially to my mum and dad! I didn't know what all the fuss was about, but within a few hours of arriving at the hospital, I had tubes coming out of me left, right and centre! I've now been receiving treatment for the last 3 years to make me better, and this will finish in September. I've had my ups and downs during that time, but all of the Doctors and Nurses, and helpers on the ward have really been great, and have provided the best possible care that I could ever have expected. The Oncology Ward cares for children with all sorts of different types of cancer, and any money raised will directly benefit the children by making their stay in hospital a much more pleasant experience (cuz it's not always nice!).
I have benefited from the generosity of people during my time there, and now I want to give a little back, so i've asked my Dad to go and climb the biggest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis (named after me of course!) and raise some cash! He's not too good at finding his way around, so he's asked a few of his pals to join him, and they've all agreed to support this worthy cause. The climb takes place on the 20th August 2011, so please help me to raise as much as possible by donating via this site.
Thanks to you all
Love from Ben
