Running for charity...

For a number of years Emma and I sponsored a child in India through Plan UK. We gained a great insight into the fabulous community based development work of Plan. Although this has come to a natural end, I am delighted that my work (Exodus) have developed a partnership with Plan over the last year.

Plan / Exodus Smokeless Stove Programme (Geita District, Tanzania)

Environment - Geita District has been highly affected by deforestation.

Health - Constantly cooking over open indoor fires has serious health implications.

Exodus are sponsoring a programme to provide 140 smokeless stoves in seven villages and train 70 members of the community to ensure sustainability. This programme will impact greatly on the health of the communities, particularly the women and children. The programme will cost approx. £20,000 but through sponsorship like this we hope to be able to scale up the project and help more villages.
