Devizes to Westminster · 29 March 2013 to 1 April 2013 ·

At Bendrigg Trust we aim to put an end to disabled people sitting on the side-lines during physical activities. We provide opportunities for people of all abilities to take part in adapted activities such as climbing, caving, canoeing and cycling whilst staying in our fully accessible accommodation.

Story

Liz and Jill are paddling the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race (125 miles and 77 portages non stop!) to raise money for Bendrigg's "Spirit of Adventure" project.

Spirit of Adventure is all about giving disabled adults a chance to take part in the sort of adventures that you and I probably take for granted.

Imagine if you were blind or a wheelchair user or disabled through stroke, head or spinal injury. You couldn't just jump in your car and head for the river or the crag or hop on your bike and clock up a few miles. You would be dependant on other people to help you every step of the way.

These kind of adventures dont come cheap - specialist gear, high ratios of specialist staff etc etc........

Whats in it for you ?

Well apart from that warm fuzzy feeling you get from giving to a good cause you could win a prize! Donate £5 have a guess at our finish time (Hrs, mins, secs) Closest guess wins!

1st prize  Lowe Alpine Peak Attack mountaineering rucksack

2nd prize Lowe Alpine Peak Attack mountaineering rucksack

(yes we have 2, thanks to Lowe Alpine!)

We'll post the results here after the race and the winners can claim their prize.

As a hint we would be very chuffed with 24 hours and hope not to be more than 27 or we'll be fighting the tide!
