Story

In May 2015, 200 cyclists will take on the challenge of cycling 200 miles from Chatsworth House in Derbyshire back to Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire to raise money for the Bruno Bursary Fund.

When I heard about the opportunity to take part I jumped at the opportunity. However I did not quite consider how much I was taking on in terms of getting prepared for the ride. It it a rather in-direct route via the hilliest parts of the north of England, taking in part of last years Tour de France route up Buttertubs pass.
I've never done any cycle event before and a few friends think I am mad to consider riding 200 miles in two days...

The bike ride has been organised by Jo and Vivian Mycielski who sadly lost their son Bruno in 2012 and they both decided to raise £600,000 for a bursary, in Bruno's name, at Ampleforth College. The funds will be kept in endowment so that each and every year they generate £30,000 to cover the cost of one student in the school for that academic year. We have requested that the students receiving Bruno's Bursary over the years be from a background most needing help and support, the most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people whose lives could change forever as a result of such a bursary at Ampleforth.

I still have a few days left to ensure I am fit and ready - I certainly will keep everyone posted as to how it went. I would really grateful if you could help me achieve my target fund. Many thanks Ben
