This year's challenge is a little different to the last one but no less daunting......I'll be helping to build a house in a week!
HBOS (Halifax / Bank of Scotland) are sending 40 staff with Habitat for Humanity to Cape Town in South Africa to build houses for people greatly in need of help.
Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent homes, through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials...which is where we come in.
I'll be heading out to South Africa on the 10th of May 2008 for one week and with the rest of our group will be building a house for a local family. To fund the build I need to raise at least £500 but for such a good cause I've set my target at £1000.
Why South Africa?
Ten million South Africans live in poverty housing pieced together with scraps of wood, cardboard and corrugated iron. One third of the population lives on less than $2 a day so this project will make a huge difference to the recipients.
I'd really appreciate any help you can give.
If you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks Again,
Ben (fund raising Team Ref 08VGC00A)
