Cardiff Half Marathon 2015 · 4 October 2015 ·

We raise money to help Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals provide world-class care to thousands of heart and lung patients each year, and to support the hospitals' pioneering work in heart and lung disease diagnosis, treatment and research.

Story

This year as a team we had some really difficult news about a colleague. She went into hospital with something unrelated and discovered she had an inoperable lung tumour. She is now receiving treatment for this and is coping incredibly well due to her endless well of optimism and naturally bubbly personality.

The project she has proposed we raise money for is to try and develop a blood test to help identify lung tumours earlier in people who would never be suspected of having them, such as young 20-something year old who have never smoked. Early detection gives these patients the best chance of early treatment and a positive outcome.

There are 180 runners signed up on our team and we would like to raise as much as we can for this cause that has a personal meaning for so many of us. Please spare whatever you can and we will give you 13.1 miles of sweat, determination and extraordinary effort in return!
