A team from Beswicks will be taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge once again this year.

The event which will take place over the weekend of 14th - 16th May will raise funds for the Kabanda Trust, a local charity which supports education and health projects in Uganda.

Joanne McGuinness, partner in the Family Department and trustee of the Kabanda Trust will be joining members of staff taking on this daunting challenge. 

Joanne McGuinness says  "Since the Trust began in 2006 we have seen the 2 schools we support grow from strength to strength. There is no doubt lives have been saved through the building of the health rooms and by employing a school nurse.

 

These projects not only support directly the children but give education and guidance to the wider community.

At Rock of Joy we started with one classroom and have now almost completed the whole school! The amount we aim to raise will have enormous benefits. It will be used to provide equipment for the last 2 classrooms and the Early Years class. I said I would never do the 3 Peaks again! However having spent time with the children and seeing first hand the real prospects and hope we can give, a few blisters are only a small price to pay!"
