Well, I did it! 37mins 10 seconds, and it was bloody freezing! But I loved every minute of it! Roll on next year where I aim to beat my time, and raised even more money for this fantastic charity.

"Destination Florida is a small Northern based charity which specialises in bringing a bit of sunshine into the lives of children who are suffering from life threatening illnesses. Every 2 years we take a group of about 75 children to Florida literally for the holiday of a lifetime. Each trip is meticulously planned and involves taking a large support team consisting of doctors, nurses and other carers. Whilst we are in Florida the parents and siblings of the children will hopefully be enjoying a week’s respite at home. The benefit of this can never be underestimated."

In October 2010 I went on the trip of a lifetime helping look after a group of amazing kids have the best care free holiday ever! The trip was the best nine days of my life, not only were the kids amazing but all the other helpers and people working for the charity. The kids can forget about their illnesses, be like any other child and meanwhile the parents get a well deserved nine days of respite!

So to give back and say thank you I'm going to do the Great North Swim, which is a mile swim around Windermere.
