So on Wednesday 22nd June I'm beginning the cycle from London to Paris with Stu and Darryl which we are attempting over 4-5 days.  Yes it's 400 kilometres of pure unadulterated leg pain and we're doing it DIY carrying all our stuff and working out the way ourselves. Please sponsor me to give me some motivation to make it there as it's going to be a struggle!

I'm raising money for Footprints Orphanage which is an orphanage set up by a British lady called Kerry in Shimba Hills in Kenya.  In July/Aug 2009 I worked at Camp Kenya in this village at the school and I heard a lot about this orphanage - Kerry had been at the camp a couple of years before and was so taken by the place and the children that she bought some land from the carpenter's father and started building an orphanage, it opened in April 2010 and she now lives out there taking in orphaned children, caring for them and they've recently opened a shop in the village where the children can sell clothes donated by the volunteers.

Anyway, it's a great cause and I hope you can sponsor me!

Message from Kerry:

"Hi Beth,   how lovely to get your email  and thank you so much for wanting to support Footprints and our ever growing 15 children.   Three years ago  it was just my  vision and a dream to make a difference to the lives of  orphaned children in rural Kenya.  We have acheived so much,   with the huge support of many who have believed in my mission and had also  witnessed the harsh life many families and children endure on a daily basis to survive.  Our children have come from the most desperate of situations and we have given them a chance of survival and hope for a life full of opportunities but most of all the sense of security in a home where they can be cared and loved.  !!  Thank you Beth,  i will be following your great acheivements!"
