Story
Hi everyone it's Bethany here,
This year on the 22nd of June (yes Abi the day after your birthday), I'll be taking part in the 10k charity run Race for Life at Crystal Palace Park in support of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
As some may know back in 2002 my mum had breast cancer, though at the time being 13 year old teenager I didn't fully understand what it entailed. Yes I knew about the hair loss, chemo and radiotherapy appointments but I didn't fully comprehend how it can affect a persons physical and emotional being. This I believe was due to the fact my mum didn't want cancer to 'ruin' our childhood and sugar coated it for us.
However I'm now at an age where I fully understand what the big C is all about from doing my own personal research (Google!!) and also witnessing first hand, my very good friend being diagnosed, treated and conquering Leukaemia. She was diagnosed last year at the age of 23, probably the healthiest and fittest out of all our friends-the shock was absolutely unreal, probably one of my biggest wake up calls to date. Cancer can strike at any time, date or age!!
I am doing this race as a way of saying I'm PROUD OF YOU GIRL!!! and THANK YOU MUM!!! for going through what you did still managing to make it to all the parents evenings etc!!!
So please take the time (and money!!) to sponsor us and by us I mean me ,little ebony and our team. No amount is too big or too small, remember it's for a BRILLIANT cause!!!
Beth xx
P.S. I would love to see some of you at the finish line!!!
