Age Concern Windsor raises funds to empower the elderly to live the most fulfilling lives that they can. They provide advice on a whole host of social care services, offer friendship, and provide practical assistance to those in the local community that most need it. They run a mini bus that collects those that attend the centre from their residences and then return them back again at the end of the day and without these outings many would never step outside their own front door, but to continue all of these support services Age Concern Windsor needs your help with fund raising to enable them to go that extra mile.
My wife Betty Downie lived with Vascular Dementia for 10 years until this terrible illness ended her life on the 25th November this year. During these years as we moved through the various stages of the dementia, the support from the volunteers at the Spencer Denny Centre in Windsor could not be highly enough praised. From providing a three course lunch through to simple hand and leg exercising and not to forget the amazing Singing for Pleasure sessions on a Tuesday and Friday when Betty and many other Dementia sufferers joined in the communal singing of songs from the past, the attendance at Spencer Denny gave an oasis of peace and calm for a few hours from the stress of day to day life. Local Social services budget restraints continue to put centres such as Spencer Denny under pressure and I have made it my mission in life to assist them in as many ways as possible to raise funds to enable them to continue their work in supporting the elderly in our community who are most at risk and who in most instances have nobody in their lives to be with them constantly as they move on to the latter stages of life. Please support us.
