As many of you are aware, my sister, Georgie,  had three TIA's (mini strokes) last year. This has meant a huge life change, having to give up her job, and to some extent her independence. 

After the first incidence, she took it really badly, suffering from anxiety having lost all her confidence dealing with the outside world. The second incident seemed to give her a wake up call, that life is for living and to start making a new type of life for herself. Including, going to night school and re-training in a totally new career. One that will suit her new lifestyle.

Georgie, has now set up a local Stroke Support Group, Your Voice, to help and support people locally, who have difficulty getting to support groups further afield. 

The Inca Trail is something I have wanted to do for many years, and will be a personal challenge for me. Those who know me well, know my biggest challenge is to actually attend a social on my own, so to get on a plane and travel all the way to South America will be way out of my comfort zone for a start. But, I would like to take this opportunity to raise funds for my sister's support group and the Stroke Association, who have been amazing in all the support they have given her. All funds raised will go to the Stroke Association, who will then donate half of the amount I raise to Georgie's group.

I haven't set a fundraising target, as any amount will be greatly appreciated. I just want to raise awareness of Strokes. They can affect anyone at any time, no matter what age you are.
