In memory of Leonard Lyons

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My granddad, Leonard Lyons, was the best man that ever lived! :)

He was the most warm, caring, lion-hearted person -- the beating heart of the family. He worked hard, instilled strong family values into us all, and he was a whiz at a crossword! I absolutely idolised him (and I still do).

He was such a strong, mentally-keen person, so it was especially heartbreaking when he developed dementia. His condition robbed him (and his family) of so much, and it was devastating to witness the deterioration of a man who had so much pride and honour, and who was the backbone of our family.

We're living longer and longer lives, and often our minds don't seem to handle this very well. Dementia and Alzheimer's are problems that are only going to increase the longer we live, so we have to do something to prevent them from negatively affecting other people's lives like it did my family.

Thank you so much for your donation.
