The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong health & wellbeing support for the UK fire & rescue community, empowering individuals and families to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. This includes serving and retired firefighters, control and support teams.

Story

I was selected to represent the Fire Service on Leg 6 'The Mighty Pacific Leg' of the 2017-18 Clipper round the world yacht race.  My leg takes place in March and April 2018 starting in Qingdao, China, and ending in Seattle, USA.  I'll be in a crew of 20 made up entirely of amateur sailors from all walks of life, lead by Nikki Henderson, a professional skipper to get us where we need to be!

This will be a huge challenge, battling massive waves and strong winds, living at a 45 degree angle.  I'll be in a watch system to keep the boat racing as fast as possible 24 hours a day.

My place is sponsored by Elliot Brown Watches, official timekeeper of the race.

Check out https://www.facebook.com/bexbeatsthewaves/ for updates and photos of my training so far.
