2013 sees the arrival of two new Charities of the Year voted for by UK employees of Deutsche Bank, the Elephant Family and the Helen Bamber Foundation.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In January 2014 I've pledged that I will cycle, along with my fellow interns the distance from Dublin's service centre to Birmingham's service centre, amounting to 450km. Taking into consideration that I'm terribly out of shape, this could be quite painful but I'm determined to help my team complete this challenge for two worthwhile charities.

Any donations, no matter how small will help toward sustaining the great work these charities are doing.

The Charities:

Elephant Family

Time. We don't have it. The biggest, most intelligent animal on the planet is facing extinction in our lifetime.

90% of the world's Asian elephants have been wiped out in the last 100 years. Their habitat is disappearing, reduced to isolated islands of green, too small to support them. But our determination stands between them and extinction. We have 10 years to reconnect the remaining forests. To save elephants, and the wildlife that shares their habitat. Stephen Fry says "Please make Elephant Family your first animal conservation charity!"

Helen Bamber Foundation

The men, women and children who go to the Helen Bamber Foundation have been tortured by government officials, trafficked for sexual exploitation, mutilated by their communities, and broken by cruelty.

The charity provides a warm welcome, clinical treatment and practical support to help survivors believe in themselves again. We bear witness to their stories, secure legal protection, and campaign to improve the way society treats them. Helen Bamber Foundation help them go to college, find work, and rebuild the confidence to trust in others and find love and friendship.
