I have set myself a couple of challenges now I am sufficiently past recent back surgery. The first is a long promised charity fund- raising cycle which will comprise 3 events the last taking on some very large French mountains on a 110km Alpine sportive in June to support the Highland Hospice. The second is to find a road bike big enough to allow me to haul my soon to be sub-17 stone frame up these Cols.
The three events will comprise:
Tour of the Peaks 80km (took the longer 130km route completed in 5hrs 40mins)
Midland Monster 122km (16th May)
La Vaujany, France 110km including 2500m vertical ascent
A little about the Hospice, it is an incredible organisation based in Inverness and serving the Highlands of Scotland, both to cancer sufferers requiring treatment and palliative care and the patients families who are directly affected. Those who have had direct contact with the Hospice and the team who work there, find themselves with a lifelong affinity to the hospice as a direct result of the kindness, skill and respect shown to the patients. www.highlandhospice.co.uk
