Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
This year I run the Prague Half Marathon on the 24th March whilst supping many a fine Czech beer and the London 10km run on the 01st of July which may be a wet one in aid of the Chelsea Pensioners.
The Royal Hospital Chelsea was founded in 1682 by King Charles II, to provide “for the succour and relief of veterans broken by age and war”, the Royal Hospital was enlarged by King James II and completed during the reign of King William and Queen Mary in 1692.
Today the Royal Hospital is the largest ex-Service home in the that cares for over 300 pensioners, whose average age is 83. They come to live in the Royal Hospital in their old age; to be cared for and ultimately to die with dignity amongst their comrades
The Chelsea Pensioners' Appeal seeks to raise £35 million over the next four years. The money is urgently needed to build and equip a new Infirmary (Care Home) for the Pensioners and to modernise and improve the rest of their living accommodation ( Long Wards).
Whether you plan to end up there or not the Chelsea pensioners are all people who have served and fought for you to enjoy the freedoms we currently enjoy. For those of you that have had the priveledge of sharing a few stories over a few beers you will know what a special bunch they are. All donations are gratefully received – it doesn't matter about the size! You can make a difference to the lives of the Chelsea Pensioners.
