Well here's a little bit about my story, I am the mother of the beautiful little girl pictured above, her name is Phoebe ( pp as we called her).Phoebe sadly died on February 23rd 2013 aged just 22 months from a very rare genetic disease called Krabbes.
Due to the rarity of Phoebes disease ( approx1 in 100,000) knowledge, information and support was non existent. I was initially told that Phoebe had cerebral palsy until further testing revealed my worst nightmare, any parents worse nightmare. I was told of Phoebes life limiting disease in October 2012, and that there wasn't anything they could do, a hospice would be in touch and go home and cherish the memories. My whole world shattered, why me?
During the time of unknown, times of darkness, I found an amazing charity called save babies.uk. They are and continue to be amazing and supported me more than I could ever thank them for.
Since Phoebes passing I have pushed to raise awareness, and raise money for this amazing charity to continue what they do, and help others, and maybe one day this rare genetic disease will be no longer and cures/ prevent this tragic loss to families.
So... Here goes, one of my colleagues who I work with wanted to do something in honour of Phoebe ( team pp) as we are known.
On the 19-22nd September 2014, John, Ed, Pete and Kev will be embarking on an approx 130-140 miles bike ride, from Whitehaven to Sunderland via the lakes, Peak District and North Yorkshire and will be doing this for savebabies.uk.
Please give what you can to this amazing charity.
Thank you for reading my page
Good luck boys x
