BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership and the world leader in bird conservation. We believe in a world rich in biodiversity where people and nature live in harmony. We offer that hope for the future of the planet but we need your help to achieve it.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for Birdlife International; a motorbike trip round Europe and its bird reserves!

(If you prefer to donate to MS Therapy Centres please visit my other page; http://www.justgiving.com/Biking-with-Birds-for-Harrow-MS-Therapy-Centre)

Although my bike trip was a “once in a lifetime, before I die” experience, it was hard work and quite a challenge learning to ride a big bike, passing my test, buying a bike and getting confident enough to cross Europe on my own (Spain to Lithuania, birding all the way!).  It took me two years to get this far and last hard winter completely scuppered bike practice. I left on April 14th on the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander. and returned to Harwich on May 28th

This trip also meant sacrifice from my wife, Anne who has MS; she was without my help for the six weeks and we had to arrange care for that time. All in all, it's been a challenge worthy of charity fundraising - I hope you agree and will donate.

Visit my blog for more details of the trip (http://bikingwithbirds.blogspot.com/).

I funded the trip myself but I thought I could use it to raise money for a good cause. Until very recently we lived in Harrow and for many years, the MS Therapy Centre there gave Anne the only regular physio available for MS sufferers in North West London. These centres have to constantly raise money to stay afloat so your donations would be a great help for a local charity which doesn’t have a very high profile. If you prefer, you can donate to a nature conservation charity ; visit my other justgiving page;

You can also donate to an MS charity if you prefer - visit my other justgiving page (see link above).

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure; Birdlife International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Thanks for your support …

Robert
