Smile Train is the world’s largest cleft charity, sponsoring 2M+ cleft surgeries since 1999. Our success owes to our sustainable model of training, funding, and equipping local medical teams to provide comprehensive cleft care that’s always there for their neighbours in need.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am undertaking the biggest sporting challenge of my 51 years in aid of the Smile Team - a worldwide organisation with the aim of establishing free cleft lip and palate surgery in the developing world.  This horrible condition is so easy to cure; skilled treatment can prevent a child being ostracised and disadvantaged for life.

After 5 years of a pretty sedentary life, the time has come to get off my sofa, and onto my bike!  Although this may well prove to be "a little bit ambitious" I am going to give it my best shot.

For those of you not in the know - I will be undertaking a 1.2 mile open water swim in Chasewater reservoir (with its well known population of vicious sharks, and miscellaneous slimy things), followed by a hilly 56 mile bike race, and then just to finish me off a 13.1 mile half marathon...

Easy...

"Pain is just weakness leaving the body".

or so I am told...
