Hi everyone a big thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The event is now over and went really well and I actually enjoyed the challenge, maybe not the hills as such but overall it was a great day out. The course was as you would expect on an army training area, with some cheeky wee hills to test your stamina but over all it was a good run. I would like to take this opportuniy of thanking everyone who has contributed to my page, it is very much appreciated. I am also sure that the Mark Wright Project will be just as pleased with the donations, so also on their behalf please accept our thanks.

The Challenge

I will be partaking in the PARAS' 10 event on 12 Sept 2010, at Catterick Garrison. This is an excellent challenge of 10 miles carrying 35lbs over the hills of North Yorkshire where your stamina and endurance levels are tested to the full and at 45 I will give it my best shot. 

My Charity is The Mark Wright Project in Dalkeith, East Lothian, Scotland

The Mark Wright Centre was set up in Dalkeith by Bob & Jem Wright in memory of their son Mark a member of 3 Para, who was killed in action on 6th September  2006. Mark entered a minefield in an extraordinary attempt to save the lives of other injured soldiers, but sadly Mark lost his life during the incident. Mark was awarded the George Cross, one of the highest awards in the UK for acts of gallantry.

We all hear what goes on in places like Afghan and Iraq by listening to Sky news, but we don't really get the bigger picture only the glossy bits. We are not told of what happens to our brave soldiers on their return from battle, no like most we expect them to carry on regardless and fight again when the time comes. What we don't see is the anguish of our brave armed forces who put their lives on the line defending this country, then being left on the scrap heap when they need help and support.   

Therefore the Mark Wright Project is dedicated to providing advice, support and services to help ex service men and women in overcoming post conflict issues. The centre gives them a lifeline in society, a sense of being wanted and a place where they can share their experiences with those in similar circumstances.  

You too can help by contributing to this great project and help Bob & Jem help others in the name of Cpl Mark Wright GC, a cause which can bring so much to those less fortunate servicemen and women who find themselves suffering the invisible trauma of conflict and combat stress.
