Story

Welcome to the BirdLife Local Empowerment Programme Fundraising Page

Local people play a vital part in solving the world's biodiversity crisis.

Local communities are the chief stewards of the world’s ecosystems, and the vast majority of daily environmental management decisions depend on local knowledge and are determined bylocal people’s use of land and natural resources.

Local organisations underpin the success and sustainability of most environment and development initiatives and under the right conditions community-based organisations will mobilise local knowledge and resources to improve environmental management.

Throughout the world BirdLife's national Partners help local community groups to find their feet and find their voices. They equip them with the skills and expertise they need to alleviate poverty, protect and improve their own livelihoods and wellbeing, be heard by decision-makers, achieve political recognition, and secure land rights which give them the confidence to plan for the future.

By making a donation today, you are joining a unique community who are helping to empower local communities so they can live sustainably and in harmony with their environment and the species that they live alongside.

Please give generously.
