Leanne Ashworth, Jessica Ham and Mark Dickson cycled the Grand Union Canal from Solihull to London on the weekend of the 3rd-4th July. The event was arranged in order to raise money for Laura Wicks (Comet). Comet suffered a serious head injury in 2003 and is currently being looked after in Marillac nursing home The money raised will be donated to the home to help them provide the best possible support and treatment for Comet, as well as her fellow residents. We completed the bike ride in just two days cycling for 16 hours on the Saturday and 12 on the Sunday covering a total distance of 145 miles. We all readily admit the challenge was one of the hardest things we have ever taken part in, but knowing we were doing it for such a great cause kept us going. All cost elements of the trip were self funded so everything raised can go to this worthy cause. If you want to find out more information regarding the charity please have a look on: www.marillac.co.uk or if you have any questions please get in touch with a member of the cycle team!
We greatly appreciate any amount you can sponsor and we hope we can make a difference to Comet and her family.
Best wishes - Leanne, Jessica and Mark.
