Reading Half Marathon 2010 · 21 March 2010 ·

A cafe for homeless and vulnerably-housed people aged 25+ in the centre of Oxford. Open six days a week in the early evening. We provide a wide range of support services and advice as well as simple, nutritious food and drink. In other words, a community centre for those who have no community.

Story

I completed the Reading Half Marathon in 2 hours 17 minutes, maybe my first of many (!), on Sunday 21st March 2010. All your best wishes were much appreciated and helped me along on the day!

Many many thank you's to everyone that has donated money, every penny is going to a great cause. Thank you! Blae

I have been raising money for the Oxford-based Gatehouse where I volunteered for a period last year. The Gatehouse is a basement room in the centre of Oxford which has become famous as a place of safety, soup and sanctuary.  Simple food - sandwiches, cake, fruit, tea, coffee... and soup in winter - is shared with those who need it most, six days a week.  Most are homeless or badly housed but there's no test to pass: it's open to anyone over twenty-five years of age, whatever condition they are in and provides a community for people who have no community.

It's all free of charge, but donations are vital in providing this service. So please dig deep, it will be truly appreciated! The size of this project means a small amount of money can make a REAL difference.
