Imagine if you were unable to touch or kiss your newborn baby...
This is an ordeal thousands of families, who's children require special care are forced to go through each year.
We are a group of 41 mums & dads who are taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival on the 21st & 22nd May 2011. Between us we are entering the 5km, 10km, Half Marathon and Full Marathon races to raise as much as we can for Bliss Scotland. Many of us have never run before (except after the kids!) and many more of us haven't run for quite a while. However we have all had experience, either directly or indirectly,of the emotional turmoil that having a baby in special care can entail.
One in seven of all babies born in Scotland are admitted to neonatal or special care units. By raising funds for Bliss Scotland we can help support their families during what can be a very lonely and frightening time & to provide a brighter future for their babies.
Bliss Scotland provides practical & emotional support for families, so that parents can give their best care to their babies. Having a premature or sick baby can be one of the toughest challenges a family take together. Bliss believes that nobody should have to take this journey alone.
