I'm running the Brussels Mini Marathon on 4/10/09  as part of 'Kelly's Charity Runners' on behalf of Dame Kelly Holmes's charity the DKH Legacy Trust.

Kelly inspired many with her double Olympic victory in Athens 2004 at the age of 34 after so many setbacks in her career.  When she retired from top class competition having realised her Olympic dream, she decided to set up her own charity - the DKH Legacy Trust - to 'Inspire young people to find and fulfil their potential in sport or life through the mentorship of elite sports performers'.  The charity supports disadvantaged young people to find and believe in their own talents by using positive high achievers from the world of sport as role models and mentors.

Having worked myself with young people in both sport and education and seen the difference positive role models can make, I decided that supporting Kelly's charity would be a great way to further that cause. It also inspired me to start running seriously again.

So...over the next 18 months I'll be pushing myself towards the goal of being fit enough to compete in the World Masters Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California in July 2011...just after my 50th birthday! Along the way as one of 'Kelly's Charity Runners' I'll be doing a number of fun runs with the aim of raising £1,500 for Kelly's charity. The journey begins with the Brussels Mini Marathon.

ALL THE FUNDS RAISED WILL GO TOWARDS SUPPORTING THE WORK OF THE TRUST AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE so please give generously. Every pound or Euro counts!

Thanks for your support.
