Talk to any mental health charity and they'll tell you two things.

1) There are more people out there than your realise with a range of  mental health issues.

2)  mental health is not a popular charity cause. Money goes tohelp  kids,fight  cancer, and care for  animals.

Around the world, around one million people commit suicide each year, including more than 6,000 in the UK and Ireland, of whom around 1,500 are women and 4,500 men. (source BBC news Website)

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 35 in the UK . Many of these deaths could have been prevented (source: Rethink).            

I'm going to try and walk the 500 miles of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela across Northern Spain. In English it's known as the Way (Camino) of St james (Sant Iago)  It's a thousand year old pilgrimage  walked by millions. My chosen route The Camino Frances starts in The French  Pyrenees and (hopefully) finishes in Santiago.

I'll be doing this in the hotest months of the year so it should be fun..for those of you who don't particularly like me you can rest assured that i'll be getting blisters, my knee will almost certainly give me pain and - more importantly - i'll be sleeping in dormitories full of snuffling, snoring and annoying pilgrims who may well try and convert me...

So if you donate you are doing so for a good, undervalued cause. And you can have the satisfaction of knowing i'll be a shambling, moaning, snivelling wreck by the end..if I get there....

SANE provides emotional support andcare for individuals and their families. It's planning to expand its service to support people through its phone services, befriending scheme and face-to face carers circle.

They estimate £10 can give emotional support and practical help for 30 minutes s to someone in a crisis.
