Windsor Half Marathon 2009 · 27 September 2009 ·

Since 1987 Scannappeal has raised over £19m for life saving and life changing medical equipment for hospitals in Bucks, particularly for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients. Every 10 minutes a patient in the local area is diagnosed or treated with equipment funded by Scannappeal.

Story

I did it, I blimming did it, ok it was waaaay too hot but I managed it in 2hr 44 mins which isn't bad considering I had a stop for a wee then had to get plasters and more vaseline oh and had cramp for the last 2 miles, more training required next time, yup you read it right there is going to be a next time!!!

Thanks loads for the donations it means a lot and if you are reading for this for the first time and haven't donated, come on, it was bloody hard!!

Well.................

Reasons for choosing scannappeal.......... Many of you probably know I have had some right ol problems with my spine and have now had one disk removed and another is prolapsed, scannappeal were paramount in finding root cause.  I think now it's time to give a little back .................

Update..........News flash...............I'm thinking i'm going to suprise us all with this and do alright!  Have been out on the road running and everything now you know!

Important bit first, I have only set my target as a small amount as it's a bit late in the day: really I want hundreds :o)

I originally entered this half marathon at the beginning of the year under the influence of new year resoloutions, after doing the Marlow 5 mile run in May and finding running wasn't actually my thing, I stopped any kind of training, now here we are 3 weeks away from the half marathon and I am thinking uh oh I'm doomed! I'm back at the gym and haven't yet managed to run the 5 miles that I did back in May ..................................

So I thought what better way to make sure I compete in the run/jog/walk/crawl than to raise money for charity, I can't back out then can I, I don't think justgiving does refunds :o)

Oh if you're wondering how long is this going to take me, i'm thinking a long time, it took me 51 mins to do 5 miles and I'm sure I suffered a near death experience :o/

Anyway anything you want to give would be great, that includes a piggy back as well as donations :o)

Thanks loads I will update the page to let you know how long I keep the marshalls out for
