We work to end the exploitation of wild animals and create a future where people and wildlife live in harmony. Across the world, we protect, rescue and care for wild animals in need, while helping communities coexist peacefully with wildlife. Help us take action — and keep wildlife in the wild.

Story

Having grown up in South Africa for 21 years of my life Born Free has a big home in my heart as they are dedicated to the safety and preservation of some of the world's most wonderful wildlife our planet has to offer.

I've seen in the Kruger National Park first hand what poachers do to animals all for the sake of a pelt or a horn - brutally attacking those that do not have a voice of their own to defend themselves and without provocation. We've all seen the documentaries on TV showing the poor living conditions of some animals in the zoos where they are kept; being chained to a short leash or a cage that is so restrictive that they can barely move let alone be free as they born into this world.

Currently Born Free is working to save two male African Lions from Eastern Ethiopia where they have been kept in a 10m squared cage, 365 days for the last 10 years - not having set foot outside their cage since they were cubs all those years ago. Lions are the embodiment of freedom and strength to all Africans but these two show nothing of their proud heritage; their glossy pelts are now a shadow of their ancestors - dull and filthy from neglect.

Born Free are attempting to save these two lions and give them a better home at their Wildlife Rescue centre Ensessakotteh near Addis Ababa. There the lions would share a large bush environment and given the freedom they were born free with.

Please help by sponsoring me in the half and full marathons in their aid.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page; please dig deep and donate now to help me save some big kitties...
