In February 2011, I will be heading out to Norway to embark on a 200km trip across the Arctic Circle. The real challenge is once I am there, I shall be presented with a team of huskies and a sled to make the trip. I will be covering daily distances ranging from 35km to 55km over snow covered landscapes, frozen lakes and rivers in temperatures between minus 5c and minus 35c.
I am funding the cost of the trip myself so all the money that I raise with your kind donations will go straight to the charity, Canine Partners.
The charity does great work in helping people with disabilities to have greater independence and quality of life through the provision of specially trained dogs. These dogs are able to carry out daily tasks such as opening and closing doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and getting help in an emergency. The charity aims to train dogs to meet the needs of people with even the most complex disabilities including members of the HM Armed Forces.
