We did it!!!! Back home now tired and very stiff what a ride! On the weekend of June 24/25/26th 2011, I cycled 156 miles from Whitehaven to Sunderland, in aid of Whiston Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.  I did the 'Coast to Coast' ride with my good mates Andy Bloore and Si Howlett who are fundraising for their own charities, the Multiple Sclerosis Trust and the British Lung Foundation respectively. (Please see links below if you would like more information or to assist with their fundraising).

It was one of the best experiences of my life.  It was very hard at times but such fun and worth the pain. Without Andy, Si, Mr motivator and head mechanic Gary, driver and hydration consultant Sean and team support vehicle managers/chief photographers Gaz and Nic we couldn't have done it. Security was provided by Keira the German Shepherd. Thank you to everyone that has sponsored me. I really appreciate your generosity. You can still help out following the prompts on this page if you want to - it's not too late.

I rode for the SCBU at Whiston, as without the unit's help in September 1972, I wouldn't have survived and grown from a two pound, two month premature baby, into a healthy child and healthy adult.  I have always wanted to help the SCBU to repay for the kindness and lifesaving care received and I hope you will be able assist too, by sponsoring me.  Any donation will be gratefully received however small.  Thanks in advance for your contribution.   Cheers. Bren.
