The Turning Point Trust is a fantastic charity working with street-children and their families in Kibera slum, Kenya. Kibera is a mass of humanity living in appalling conditions. Rubbish and raw sewage run down the lanes, families live in single mud-rooms with leaky tin roofs, and crime and insecurity are rife. Children live in appalling conditions with nothing but poverty, hunger and disease.
Turning Point's mission is to acquire farming land in Kinangop, to give widowed mums and their children the chance to escape the harsh realities of slum life and establish a new, independent, sustainable life through learning to farm.
I have entered a cycling event to raise money to help Turning Point continue their incredible work. I am cycling over 80 miles on the 14th of August to help raise enough money for Turning Point to acquire a farm for Zipporah and her children to escape the slums and live an independent, sustainable life.
I am not a cyclist, so I have dusted off the bike, been getting up early to cycle and get fit to have any chance of completing the distance. This is a real challenge I would be very grateful for your support to help with this incredible project and help change a family's life.
