Sailor's Society provides services and support to seafarers serving on ships navigating the world's oceans. Seafarers quietly go about their business of transporting and delivering the commodities and finished goods that people in their daily lives take for granted. Few people spare a thought for the welfare and support of those seafarers and their families. A life at sea can sometimes be a very dangerous and lonely existence. During my time spent at sea I appreciated the warm welcome extended to me and my fellow crew members by the Sailor's Society when in port, especially those isolated ports and installations situated far away from any places of interest. During a tough period for the shipping industry, the support given to seafarers by the Sailor's Society has never been more welcome and should be applauded. 

During 2017 the American Club celebrates it's centenary year. The American Club, as a member of the International Group of P&I Clubs, provides P&I cover to its' members which includes liability arising from injury to crew and liabilities arising under the Maritime Labour Convention. As we celebrate the American Club's first 100 years what better way is there to show our recognition and thanks to those seafarers that quietly serve us all than to donate to a charity that exists to support the  humble seafarer!
