Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My brother and I will be climbing as many Munro's (Scotlands mountains over 3000ft) as we can this year and would like your help to raise funds for Yorkhill Sick Childrens Foundation.

We climb mountains for fun but would like to raise funds for this charity due to my daughter spending some time in Yorkhill after a near fatal accident at home. Every member of staff within the hospital from the canteen staff, cleaners and porters to the consultants, surgeons and medical directors are all worth more than their weight in gold. The level of care and attention they show patients and the compasion for parents goes well above and beyond any professional duty and my familly and I would like to give the hospital a little in return for everything they have done for my little girl. We would also like to ensure that all future patients have as comfortable and supportive a stay as we did.

The challenge is to climb a minimum of 25 Munro's before 22nd September 2011. We have already started our challenge with the first Munro of the year, Meall Buidhe (Glen Lyon) on Sunday 29th May. The weather on the 29th was horrific and it did not deter us.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I will continue to update this page with the Mountains we have conquered and our experiences along the way.

05/06/2011: Another 3 Munro's conquered today, The Cairnwell, Carn Aosda and Carn a Gheoidh taking my total to 4 for the year.

12/06/2011: Reached the summit of my fifth Munro today, Ben Narnain. We also climbed The Cobbler (Ben Arthur) which is only a Corbet so doesn't count towards my challenge. Total now 5 for the year.

19/06/2011: Stob Dearg was the challenge for today followed by Stob Na Broige on Buachaille Etive Mor, bringing the total to 7 for the challenge. An amazing walk.

26/06/2011: Not the best weather today but Ben Vorlich at Loch Lomond was conquered without any problems. That brings the total to 8, almost a third of the way there.

03/07/2011: Ben Lomond became Munro number 9 today and my first on my own. The weather was glorious, too hot to start but some small scattered clouds brought some welcome shade for a couple of minutes at a time. I also set a personal record of reaching the top of a Munro (from sea level) in 1hour 40 mins.

10/07/2011: In to double figures at last with Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh in the bag! A great walk but no views with both peaks having their heads in the cloud. That's 10 and 11 conquered and "only" 14 more to go!

17/07/2011: Schiehallion became the 12th Munro added to the list of those conquered for my challenge. It was rather wet at the top today but sun was out on the way up and down.

26/07/2011: The South Ridge of Glen Shiel provided 7 Munro's to bring the total to 19. This monster was the most challenging thing I've ever done physically. The 7 Munro's were : Creag a' Mhaim, Druim Shionnach, Aonach Air Chrith, Maol Chinn-dearg, Sgurr an Doire Leathain, Sgurr an Lochain, Creag nan Damh.

14/08/2011: Buachaille Etive Beag in Glen Coe was our challenge for today. With it's two Munro's, Stob Coire Raineach, Stob Dubh in the bag my total now stands at 21! Almost There!

28/08/2011: Ben Chonzie was the perfect Munro for our group outing taking 19 friends and family to the top of number 22 with us and helping to boost our fundraising consideribly. Thank you to everyone that joined us, itwas an amazing day and you all done incredibly well.

07/09/2011: The 4 peaks of the Carn Gorm Circuit, Carn Gorm, Meall Garbh, Carn Mairg, Creag Mhor, brought my toatal to 26 today and broke my target of 25 Munro's! A great sense of achievement but also dissappointment now that the challenge is finished but I won't be stopping here! I will continue but can take it a bit easier now that I have achieved my initial goal.

Even if you can only afford £1, $1, 1Euro please donate, every penny counts.
