Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this Just Giving Page. Following my successful second kidney transplant in February 2010, just 6 months later I was healthy and fit enough to be able to compete in the British Transplant Games which were held in Bath. At the Games my achievements were recognised by the fact that I jointly received the Andrew Raftery Trophy for the best achieving new transplantee. (This is specific to people who have been transplanted within 12 months of the Games.)
Even more of a surprise came upon my return home when I was honoured to receive an invitation to represent the UK at the 18th World Transplant Games to be held in Sweden in June 2011. This invitation was in recognition of my successful sporting performance at the British Games. Once again I will be a member of the UK Volleyball Team and I will be competing individually in swimming events. My aim is to reach the funding target to enable me to compete at the prestigious event.
The aim of the Games is to promote organ donation (THE GIFT OF LIFE) and a healthy active lifestyle for transplantees.
