Story

****Update****

A big massive thanks to everybody that has sponsored me, I know there are a lot of charities out there in need of your hard earned cash. Hibernian Community Fondation has improved my lifestyle so much I know I'll live a longer and healthier life. With your support they will be able to carry on that good work and help other guys (and in the future, Ladies and Children). YOUR MONEY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

The big day has been and gone and I am delighted at how well I did. It wasn't easy and running with my mentor, Phil, helped push me to the max.

1 hour, 48 minutes and 30 seconds was my final time. Better than I could have hope for and smashing any time I've done before.

I could not have done that time, or anything near without the help of Hibernian Community Foundation.

My thanks goes out again to Stewart, Phil, Leo and the rest of the guys.

Thanks, I hope to always be able to show my gratitude.

Brian

The big day is only tomorrow now and I'm pretty calm about things. Let's hope I am in 12 hours time.

Three days to go and I think I've been broken (no not my heart after last weekend). Stewart had us doing fitness tests on Tuesday night and my stomach muscles are a wee bit sore. OK, I'm still pretty sure I'll make it but no Cheesecake for him.

Now just three weeks to go and dispite struggling to find the time to train, I'm happy that I'll make it round. My weight loss has halted but that's because I'm eating like a horse......How I wish I was a horse.

****************

Six months ago I weighed 102kg (16stone) and I felt my body was starting to struggle, I was using my inhaler almost everyday and was getting out of breath very easily.

Thankfully I heard about FFIT (Football fans in Training). This is a programme for guys between 35 and 55 with a weight problem. Run by the SPL clubs (and Hamilton) the course was about improving my diet and increasing my level of exercise, the Goal being to lose weight and make me healthier.

Now the idea of ten blokes all going to weightwatchers is not really an exciting idea but this wasn't like that at all. I was lucky enough to be accepted into the Programme run by the Hibernian Community Foundation (but don't worry similar programmes are run all over Scotland, even at Tynecastle, not that I'd be going there!). So each week I travelled down to Easter Road for a laugh with my fellow FFITers, some sound advice and some exercising,

What really made the difference to my weight loss was not only the knowledge and facts that were shared but also the enthusiasm, support and motivation offered by Stewart, Leo and Phil (and everybody else at the Foundation). Running this race and raising some funds for them will still only go a short way to showing how grateful I am. Thanks Guys

As for me? I now weight 87kg and feel so much better.

So please, for the sake of my health and lots of other blokes like me, dig deep and donate now.
