News Update - At 0835hrs on Thursday 2nd February 2012 I completed the challenege after trekking for 5 days with a final overnight slog for 7.5 hours up a very steep acsent to the crater rim; eventually arriving at the Uhuru Peak, the summit of Kilimanjaro, some 45 minutes later.
On behalf of Dorothy House Cancer Care and myself I would like to thank all those persons who sponsored the event and helped raise circa £4K for the charity.
Thank you.
"It is time for another adventure"; having taken the trusty Land Rover Discovery across the Atlas Mountains and on into the Sahara, having driven it on a Bosnian Aid convoy I thought is was time for something more physical.
What better than an attempt on Mount Kilimanjaro [27.02.2012 - 05.02.2012], Tanzania; a 5 day trek to 5895 metres, the highest free standing mountain in the world. I may not arrive at the summit as many never conquer the altitude sickness, however I will do all I can to raise as much money possible for the Dorothy House Hospice Care Charity.
Thank you to Joanne for assisting in raising money by running the Bristol 10K.
Large or small donations are all equally appreciated by me and the Dorothy House charity so please donate whatever you feel you can right now; all the monies raised will go direct to the charity.
Thank you
Brian Schofield
