This fundraising campaign is an extension of the Let's Tackle Cancer campaign conducted on www.flyforums.co.uk.  The forums are a huge online community of people from all over the world.  Whilst we all come from different walks of life, we share some common passions and interests, particularly fly fishing!  Some of our commonalites may be less obvious initially, but we believe that like any community, we can also be a force for good, where the cause is right and the need is great.

There can be fewer causes more worthy of our support than the research into the treatment of cancer, and the care for those individuals and families whose lives are affected by it.  Cruel and indiscriminate, cancer is a disease that touches so many people's lives, and following recent online conversations where many of us shared our experiences of this disease, we decided, as a community of fly fishermen to do something to support those working in the fields of cancer research and care by raising money for them.

You can find out more about how people are raising money by clicking here

As you will see, fly fishers from up and down the country are donating all kinds of wonderful things to raise money.  From days out fishing, to items of tackle, the donations are all excellent and we hope that they will help us to raise substantial sums of money to support our chosen charities.

The original pages on Just Giving were for Cancer research UK and Marie Curie. The Macmillan nurses were a huge help during my father's last year; and other donors have expressed similar sentiments - so now we can offer donors another option

It is our hope that you whether you are an angler or not, you will wish to support our campaign, either by making a donation directly, buying from the items up for sale on the forums, or by donating fly fishing related items for us to auction off.  Of course if you're feeling really generous you can always offer all three!

Guidance on how to donate directly to Just Giving are given below. To donate items for auction, follow the links to the forums above.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Sincere thanks from all involved

Brian Taylor
