We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Hi,

this is a bit of an experiment - we talked at a few meetings about doing some fundraising. We're hoping to raise enough money to create a talking book.

£500 pays to record a children's book (like Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone) in unabridged form, £1,000 pays to record an adult book like Pride and Prejudice) in unabridged form and £1,500 pays to transcribe a book into braille.

In terms of choosing a book RNIB will provide a list of books for us to choose from - of 100,000 books published every year they can only afford to record 700.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

*PS this page is described as Pete Taylor's fundraising event - annoyingly I can't change this caption but have pointed out to RNIB that it's a joint effort!

About the charity

Every day 250 people in the UK start losing their sight. With your help, we can be there when people need us most, support independent living, create an inclusive society and prevent avoidable sight loss. Every pound you raise will help create a future where sight loss is no longer a barrier.
