Story
Hanover Housing Association is 50 this year and to celebrate this anniversary staff and residents have committed to try to raise as much money as we can for charity. I have already completed several marathons and ultra runs so to raise money I thought I needed to do something a little bit different. Hence the idea of running dressed as a Gorilla.
The Gorilla suit is quite heavy and hairy and the mask rather claustrophobic, but I hope it will raise a few eyebrows, make people smile and prompt you to be generous enough to sponsor me.
I’m raising money for the charity CSV (Community Service Volunteers). I am a trustee of the charity, and they do so many fantastic things. They provide training for people let down by traditional education programmes, encourage older volunteers with their innovative Retired and Senior Volunteers Programme (RSVP), support young people and families with mentoring and befriending schemes and run projects to help staff working for corporate firms make a difference and give something back. They are the ultimate ‘big society’ charity.
CSV like many charities have really felt the effects of cuts in funding so any support is certain to be very welcome and used to great effect.
